Week 9 fall sports athlete of the week nominees

Nominees for high school fall sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Nov. 8. Voting will conclude at 8 p.m. Thursday with results published in Friday’s Columbian.

CHANSE GILBERT, SKYVIEW BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Gilbert was the fastest local runner at the state meet, placing seventh in the 4A meet in 15:35.

ALEXIS FULLER, UNION GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Fuller was the top local finisher at the state meeting, placing third in the 4A meet in 17:51.

LAUREN HARRIS, CAMAS VOLLEYBALL: Harris recorded 22 kills and 32 digs in two matches in the 4A district title, sending the Papermakers to the district title.

MEGAN SAWYER, PRAIRIE SOCCER: Sawyer recorded 14 saves and posted three shutouts as the Falcons reached the final day of the bi-district tournament, falling on penalty kicks after a 0-0 game.

COLLEEN WOODS, HERITAGE SWIMMING: Woods won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly at the 4A district meet, advancing to state as the top-seeded 4A swimmer from Clark County.
