With President Barack Obama expected to unveil a new policy on immigration today, local immigration advocates are planning rallies across the state.
OneAmerica, an advocacy group, is organizing a rally at 4 p.m. at the corner of Fort Vancouver Way and McClellan Road in Vancouver.
The goal of the rallies are to send the president a message to stop deporting families, according to a news release from OneAmerica.
The group is pushing for an expansion of the deferred action program and reducing naturalization fees, along with other “executive actions that will make life easier for immigrants in the U.S. and stop the wave of family-splitting deportations that is tearing at the fabric of our communities,” according to the news release.
