Three things to watch this week

NO. 1: 2-0 FOR FIRST TIME? — Several teams go into Week 2 looking to improve 2-0. But two teams are heading into Week 2 looking to improve to 2-0 for the first time in program history — Heritage, which faces Hudson’s Bay, and Seton Catholic, which faces Blanchet Catholic of Salem, Ore.

NO. 2: SNEAK PREVIEW OF 4A GSHL — Last sesaon, we’re learned quite a lot early in the 4A Greater St. Helens League. In Week 1, Camas routed Jesuit 47-14. In Week 2, Jesuit beat Union 32-7. That told us Camas was off to a special season. We can get a similar indicator this season. Union opened last week with a 34-27 win over Federal Way. This week, Federal Way travels to play Camas.

NO. 3: UNVEILING IN LA CENTER — After years of playing its football game at the middle school, La Center will celebrate the first game on its new on-campus field with tailgate party. The party will include a free barbecue and music by Pull for Fire from 4:15 to 6 p.m. at the high school practice field. Then festivities will move to the new high school field as the Wildcats take on their former league rival Woodland, now a member of the 2A GSHL, at 7 p.m.
