Detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a swimming pool at a Vancouver housing complex Tuesday morning.

Police and fire personnel were called to the Shorewood East Condominium, 5575 E. Evergreen Blvd., at 9:12 a.m. by a report hat a person had possibly drowned.

A resident walking by saw the man, who was fully clothed, floating in the half-filled pool, and tried to get him out, said Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

Arriving firefighters conducted CPR and other lifesaving efforts, but they were not successful, Kapp said.

The man’s identity was not released.

Because of the unusual circumstances, the agency’s major crime detectives were called to the scene to investigate. But a few hours into the investigation, they reported that the death appeared to be related to a medical issue, Kapp said.

The official cause of the man’s death, along with the release of his name, will come from the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
