Brandon Casteel of Washougal was voted The Columbian’s high school football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 20.

Casteel collected 39 percent of the 2,643 votes cast by fans to beat out Liam Fitzgerald of Camas, who had 35 percent.

Casteel rushed for 292 yards on 15 carries and had TD runs of 98, 90 and 70 yards in the Panthers’ win over Ridgefield.

The other nominees were Caleb Browning of Union, Bryson Enge of Skyview and Billy Nelson of Evergreen.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Saturday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Players may be elected player of the week once per month, and no player can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
