Evelyn Hallett has been appointed to a five-year term on the Vancouver Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners.

Hallett, who was appointed to the board by Mayor Tim Leavitt, was sworn in Thursday during the VHA commissioners’ meeting.

Hallett lives at Vista Court Apartments. She’ll serve as “resident commissioner” and represent the interests of subsidized housing clients.

Hallett works as a hostess at Luepke Senior Center and volunteers for Meals on Wheels.

She also serves on the VHA’s Resident Advisory Board and on the advisory board for Luepke Senior Center, said Steve Towell, VHA spokesman.

The Vancouver Housing Authority provides subsidized housing for more than 3,000 households in Clark County. It also provides housing for special needs populations and owns more than 1,700 units of non-subsidized affordable housing units, according to a news release issued Thursday.
