Prep highlights: Craig paces local girls at Nike Pre-Nationals meet

Mountain View’s Savanna Craig has the fastest time by a Clark County girls at the Nike Pre-Nationals cross country meet Saturday at Portland Meadows.

Craig placed 15th in the Danner Championship race in 18 minutes, 32 seconds. Camas’ Alissa Pudlitzke was 18th (18:35) and Emma Jenkins was 21st (18:37) to help the Papermakers place eighth in the team standings.

Skyview’s Kaden Harbertson was fastest Clark County boy, finishing 26th in the Danner Championship race in 16:02. Teammate Mason Scheidel was 39th in 16:11, helping the Storm to an 11th-place finish. Columbia River’s Austin Blankenship was third in the Division 2 race in 16:16.

Stars of the day

• Matthew Young, Woodland boys cross country, won the Montesano Invitational in 17:04, leading the Beavers to the team title over Seattle Christian 36-78.

• Jenna Melanson, La Center girls cross country, placed second in the Montesano Invitational in 20:19 to lead the Wildcats to the team title over Montesano 37-62.

• Rylee Seekins, Hockinson girls soccer, scored two goals and added an assist as the Hawks beat Tumwater 3-2 in a non-league match.

• Heather Duelen, Washougal girls soccer, had two goals in the Panthers’ 3-3 tie with Kelso in a non-league match.

• Colton Reed and Justin Yee, Mountain View tennis, placed third in the Flight 1 doubles at the Thomas Jefferson Invitational.

• Alexis Fuller, Union girls cross country, won the Meriwether National Classic in Hillsboro, Ore., in 19:02 to lift Union to the team title.
