Nominees for high school spring sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the two-week period ending April 12. Voting will conclude at 8 p.m. Thursday with results published in Friday’s Columbian.

JOSSILYN BLACKMAN, BATTLE GROUND GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: Blackman finished second in the shot put, second in the discus and third in the javelin at the Willamette Falls Invitational, posting top-3 marks in the state in the discus and javelin.

ALEX FIRL, LA CENTER SOCCER: Firl scored three goals and added an assist in a league win over Toledo/Winlock.

SETH RAYBURN, COLUMBIA RIVER BASEBALL: Rayburn threw 11 shutout innings with 12 strikeouts in post two league wins.

KATIE SCHROEDER, CAMAS SOFTBALL: Schroeder struck out 13 in six innings of pitching. In two games, she went 5 for 7 with two doubles, a home run and six RBI.

ELI WHITMIRE, WOODLAND BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: Whitmire won the long jump and triple jump at the Willamette Falls Invitational, posting the top 1A marks in the state this season.
