There are big games coming up this week in Class 2A Greater St. Helens League baseball.

And next week.

The big games this week are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And here they are.

Every single one of them.

There are five schedule days of 2A GSHL league play in baseball, and every single one of them matters.

Every team in the league remains in the hunt for the four berths to the district tournament, although Washougal’s position is very precarious.

Three and a half games separate the first-place team in the league (Woodland 5-2) and the last-place team (Washougal 2-6). Three teams have 4-4 records.

Woodland hosts Hockinson and R.A. Long and travels to last-place Washougal this week. So the Beavers can take control of their playoff position this week, maybe even the league title. But that hasn’t been the form in the 2A GSHL this season for baseball.

Here’s a look at other key events this week. Monday looks to be the best weather day of the week, with clouds and showers mid-week.

TRICO BASEBALL: Big week in the Trico. First-place Castle Rock (8-0) and second-place King’s Way Christian (8-1) meet three times. The teams meet in a doubleheader Tuesday at Luke Jensen Park, then one game in Castle Rock on Friday.

4A GSHL SOFTBALL: Union (3-3) faces two big home games this week if the Titans want to get back into the league title race — Camas (5-1) on Monday and Battle Ground (6-1) on Wednesday.

2A GSHL SOCCER: Second place is on the line when Ridgefield (6-2) plays at Washougal (6-2) on Tuesday.

GIRLS GOLF: The second big tournament of the spring season will come on Wednesday at the Prairie Invitational at The Cedars on Salmon Creek.

TRACK AND FIELD: Ridgefield and Stevenson will be some of the local teams competing in the Panther Twilight meet at Washougal on Friday. Camas and Union will compete at the Nike Jesuit Relays in Beaverton, Ore., on Friday.
