The southbound Interstate 5 Bridge will be intermittently closed Saturday morning while crews install a new crossing arm, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Bridge lifts lasting up to 20 minutes each will take place between 5 a.m. and noon Saturday. The southbound sidewalk will close throughout the work window to allow for staging of equipment, according to ODOT. The bicycle and pedestrian path on the northbound side of the bridge will remain open.
The crossing gate, which blocks the three lanes of I-5 during a bridge lift, was damaged in an early-morning crash on June 17, according to ODOT.
Drivers heading from Vancouver to Portland can use Interstate 205 during the closures. Northbound I-5 will not be affected by the work.
