Two Battle Ground residents were injured in a fatal head-on crash Sunday in Oregon, according to Oregon State Police.

A 2006 Pontiac sedan was traveling west on Highway 26 at about 5 p.m. when it slowed to turn onto Highway 103, about 25 miles east of Seaside, Ore., police reported.

While it was stopped, the Pontiac was rear-ended by a 1992 Ford F-350, which pushed the Pontiac into eastbound lanes and into the path of a 2004 Jeep Cherokee, police said.

The driver of the Pontiac, Tracy E. Rambo, 53, of Seaside ,was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the Jeep, Chase and Lilleana Pietz of Battle Ground, were taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Chase Pietz was listed in fair condition Tuesday. Lilleana Pietz’s condition was not available.

The driver of the pickup, Dustin Harrold, 20, of Cottage Grove, Ore., was not injured.

Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
