After jumping out to an 8-0 lead, the Columbia River girls basketball team had trouble shutting down the outside shooting game of Kennedy Catholic as the Lancers beat River 46-36 in a Class 3A bi-district tournament game on Wednesday in Burien.

“They got off to a slow start shooting,” River coach Carl Click said. “But then their shooters got hot. We couldn’t defend three different kids who were throwing up 3-pointers and making them.”

Marion Lilly paced River with 13 points, and Megan Bloom had 10 rebounds.

Columbia River will face Enumclaw on Friday at Washington High School in Tacoma in the first of three loser-out games the Chieftain must win to reach the regional round of the 3A state tournament.
