Kasey Calwell of Camas boys swimming was voted The Columbian’s high school winter sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Feb. 21.
Calwell collected 41.3 percent of the 14,69 votes cast by fans to beat out Abby Lees of Washougal girls wrestling, who had 39.9 percent.
Calwell was picked the swimmer of the meet at the Class 4A state meet after winning state championships in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
The other nominees were Alyssa Blankenship of Washougal girls basketball (11.0 percent), Derick Tollen of La Center boys wrestling (7.0) and Nicole Moss of Heritage gymnastics (1.8).
Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.
