A Bellevue man was arraigned Tuesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court on charges connected with the homicide of a Vancouver escort whose body was found inside a Portland hotel last month.

Tae Bum “Chris” Yoon, 24, is tentatively scheduled to go to trial on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter on Feb. 27 in front of Judge Christopher Marshall. Yoon has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The fully clothed body of Ashley Renee Benson, 25, of Vancouver was found Dec. 26 just inside a stairwell door at in the Double Tree Hotel, 1000 N.E. Multnomah St., near Portland’s Lloyd Center. Benson’s attacker may have strangled her, according to a medical examiner.

Benson and Yoon reportedly had previous encounters and on the night of her death, apparently had a dispute over money owed.

Investigators used phone records to find Yoon and arrested him when he arrived in Portland on a train.
