YAKIMA — Some Washington state senators think more people would vote if they didn’t have to put a stamp on their mail-in ballot.

They have introduced a bill that would require county auditors to include a postage-prepaid return envelope.

The bill is set for a hearing Monday before the Senate Government Operations Committee.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reported Yakima County had the worst voter turnout in the state last November with fewer than 48 percent of the ballots returned. Statewide just 54 percent of voters returned ballots.
