Police search for Vancouver man reported missing after fishing trip

By , Columbian Small Cities Reporter

Police are searching for a Vancouver man who was reported missing Wednesday night after a fishing trip to Lacamas Lake.

Investigators said David J. Gleghorn, 68, went fishing in an inflatable boat around 8 a.m. on Wednesday and never came home. Growing concerned after the sun went down, Gleghorn’s family contacted the Camas Police Department and reported him missing.

During a search of the area Wednesday night, police found Gleghorn’s vehicle parked near the public boat launch on N.W. Leadbetter Road.

His boat was nowhere to be seen, but police said evidence showed it entered the water from that point.

A few law enforcement agencies are working together on the investigation. The Clark County Sheriff’s Marine Unit has helped search the lake, and the Portland Police Bureau sent an air unit to scour the area, as well.

The search continued Thursday morning, as the Portland Police air unit found Gleghorn’s boat in an inlet at the south end of the lake. But investigators have few other leads at this point, and police do not suspect any foul play was involved in Gleghorn’s disappearance.

Anyone with information about the situation is encouraged to call the Camas Police Department at 360-834-4151.
