Some 50 years after the United States first sent troops to Vietnam, a local veterans advocacy group will hold a “welcome home” event Saturday in Hazel Dell.

The event will include a car and motorcycle cruise-in from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1015 N.E. 78th St. The commemoration starts at 1:30 p.m.

“Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans” is free and open to the public. There is an entry fee for the cruise-in: $15 per car and $10 per motorcycle. Net proceeds will go to housing for homeless veterans.

While the focus is on Vietnam veterans, all vets are welcome, organizer Michael Stacey said. For information, call Stacey at 360-601-6935.
