Clark County residents have until 4 p.m. Friday to buy Vancouver Heritage bonds — if they don’t sell out first.

More than three quarters of the bonds, totaling $1,195,000, had been purchased by Clark County residents as of Tuesday afternoon. Of the original $1.5 million, $305,000 in bonds remain available. Four of the eight maturity dates have sold out.

The bonds are being used to finance a portion of the $8.3 million West Barracks renovation project near Officers Row. Construction is scheduled to start later this year.

Fully backed by the city, the tax-exempt bonds are available in denominations of $500, up to a $10,000 maximum per household. As with savings bonds, the value of the bonds will grow over several years. Bond order forms and instructions are in the lobby of Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St., and online at cityofvancouver.us/HeritageBonds.
