The 91-year-old Vancouver man who allegedly caused a head-on crash that killed two people remains in serious condition.

Robert Snider was driving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup west on state Highway 14 on Wednesday when he stopped behind a hay truck that was waiting to turn left near Milepost 19, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Toyota crossed the center line and struck a Kia Soul head-on in the eastbound lanes, said State Patrol Lt. Jason Linn.

Two passengers in the Kia, 25-year-old Justin Clayton and 29-year-old Anna Wichman, both of Portland, died at the scene.

The driver of the Kia, Jesikah Clausen, 25, of Portland, and a third passenger in the vehicle, Sean Knudeson, 32, of Portland, were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Clausen and Knudeson both remain in the hospital, but have been upgraded from serious to satisfactory condition.

No arrests or citations have been reported, but troopers continue to investigate.
