Clark County Public Health offers free training for chefs

Clark County Public Health is sponsoring further free sodium-reduction training for local chefs.

Chef Garrett Berdan, a registered dietitian who offers workshops for professional cooks across the country, is returning to Vancouver to host free training on strategies to enhance flavor and reduce sodium, focusing on flavors from Mexico and Southeast Asia. Public health is sponsoring the event, using money from a federal grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Training is from 9 to 11 a.m. March 26 in the cooking school kitchen at Clark College Columbia Tech Center, 18700 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd.

The training session is designed for chefs at independent, locally owned restaurants. Registration is required; contact Melissa Martin, melissa.martin@clark.wa.gov or 360-397-8000 ext. 7291, to registration.
