Washington Senate Republicans say they’re ready to release their state budget plan.

The caucus said Monday night that it planned to release the package on Tuesday.

House Democrats unveiled their proposal less than a week ago.

Lawmakers are in the midst of a 105-day legislative session that is scheduled to end April 26. They need to write a new two-year operating budget for the state under the shadow of a court-ordered requirement to put additional money toward the state’s education system.

House Democrats included a new capital gains tax as part of their plan, but Senate Republicans have said new taxes should not be part of the solution.
