Clark County ranked second statewide in hotel occupancy for the first quarter of 2015, behind only King County.

The county’s occupancy rate for the January through March period was 63.5 percent, according to figures complied by Smith Travel Research and released by Visit Vancouver USA. That compared to the statewide average of 59.3 percent during the same time period. In the same period of 2014, the county occupancy rate was 61 percent, the state’s third-highest count.

This year’s county number is based on a sample of 2,508 of the county’s 2,701 hotel rooms.

King County, which includes Seattle and Bellevue, reported the highest occupancy. Pierce County, encompassing Tacoma, had the third-highest occupancy rate. Those numbers were not released by Visit Vancouver USA.
