Letter: No reason to wait on secure storage

The Columbian
Published: May 12, 2015, 5:00pm

Regarding Mary Beth Cozza’s May 5 letter, “Storage of guns must be regulated,” about gun storage legislation, while we are waiting for our legislators to enact Child Access Protection laws, responsible gun owners can double-check the security of all guns stored in their homes or vehicles. They can ensure that all ammunition is also secured and stored separately from the weapons. In addition, before, during and after passage of Child Access Protection laws, everyone can urge their friends and family who own guns to secure all guns and to store ammunition separately.

Secure storage of guns should be as widespread and socially acceptable as designated drivers.
