A community “Celebration of Ed” has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, to honor the memory of philanthropist Ed Lynch.

The event will be at Vancouver’s First United Methodist Church, 401 E. 33rd St. It will be open to the entire community.

Lynch died Sunday. He was 94.

Ed and his late wife, Dollie, who died in 2010 at age 84, were honored in 1992 as Clark County’s First Citizens.

They also were named philanthropists of the year by the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington in 2005. They supported a number of causes, including those with heritage, educational and medical focuses.

Lynch retired in 1985 as president of Kiewit Pacific, a Vancouver-based subsidiary of one of the world’s largest construction contractors.
