A Vancouver man who led Clark County sheriff’s deputies on a chase while riding an all-terrain vehicle through the Hazel Dell area was sentenced Wednesday to 19 months in prison.

Kenneth Edward Gill, 29, pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court in two separate cases to second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission, possession of methamphetamine and attempt to elude. The first charge stems from a March 28 incident.

On the evening of April 9, Gill drove an ATV south on Northeast Highway 99 in Hazel Dell. Pursuing officers attempted to slow down the ATV by boxing it in. Gill then rammed a patrol vehicle, breaking a taillight, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court.

The chase ended near the intersection of Northeast Minnehaha Street and Northeast St. Johns Road after about 10 minutes. Gill tried to jump a curb and rolled the ATV, court records said.

Deputies reportedly found a glass pipe in his backpack that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to court documents.

During his sentencing, Gill told Judge Derek Vanderwood that he hopes to seek treatment.

“I do apologize for any inconvenience I caused the court,” he said.

In addition to his prison sentence, Gill’s license was revoked.
