Vancouver police officers made 26 traffic stops on Halloween and encountered three crashes, according to the department.

The city saw three collisions. One involved a driver who was under the influence, as did another, which was a hit-and-run.

Vancouver police officers issued three citations for driving under the influence, the department said.

There were reports of serious injuries from collisions that night. Additional officers were on patrol this year, partly in response to last year’s Halloween.

Last year, a 7-year-old girl was killed when an intoxicated driver plowed into a group of trick-or-treaters. While investigators were at the scene of that crash, another allegedly intoxicated driver rammed through a barricade and almost hit officers.

Not long after, two teens were killed in another crash, and alcohol was found in their systems. All that happened while the department was also responding to calls of gunfire or robberies elsewhere.
