Week 8 fall sports prep athlete of the week: Emma Jenkins, Camas cross country

Emma Jenkins of Camas girls cross country was voted The Columbian’s high school winter sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Oct. 31.

Jenkins collected 61 percent of the  6,097 votes cast by fans to beat out Rylee Seekins of Hockinson soccer, who had 34 percent.

Jenkins won the 4A bi-district championship, leading Camas to a team win.

The other nominees were Page Heller of Columbia River volleyball, Andrew Kabacy of Skyview boys tennis and Chanse Gilbert of Skyview boys cross country.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Athletes may be elected player of the week once during the regular season, and no athlete can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
