No one was injured after a two-vehicle crash sent a sport-utility vehicle into the Washougal River just after noon Monday.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded near 34712 N.E. Washougal River Road, north of Washougal, to a report of a multiple-vehicle collision that sent one vehicle down an embankment and into the river.

The sheriff’s office said Randy Godwin, 51, was traveling west in a Ford Focus when he crossed the centerline and went into the path of an eastbound SUV, colliding with the SUV.

The crash forced the second vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe, down a 30-foot embankment and into the river.

The vehicle came to a stop in the river, halfway submerged. The two men in the Tahoe were able to get out of the SUV and climb back to the roadway, according to the sheriff’s office.

Godwin and the two men were unhurt. Godwin was cited for crossing the centerline, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash delayed traffic along Washougal River Road for about an hour while the Tahoe was pulled from the river.
