Letter: Accepting refugees is right measure

I am proud that Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has spoken up in favor of accepting refugees from the war and turmoil in the Middle East.

The United States has a long history of accepting people from many different regions and cultures, and who were mistreated and discriminated against in their countries of origin.

Our record is not perfect, but we have another opportunity right now to do the right thing, and help those suffering mistreatment and discrimination. It is also an opportunity to improve our record of mistakes.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
