Letter: Write-in wasn’t initiated by voters

State Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, has filed as a write-in candidate. Supporters of the campaign say it ensures the Republican voters have a conservative alternative. Let’s see. As I recall, Clark County Councilors David Madore, Tom Mielke, and Jeanne Stewart all ran for county council chair and lost. Marc Boldt and Mike Dalesandro, both by vote of the people, won the chance for the chair position on the November ballot. It seems the GOP had their chance with Madore, but he lost.

Now enter Pike.

For someone who claims she never sought nor would campaign for the position, she has filed as a write-in candidate. In other words, “I am running and I hope the voters won’t notice how,” as suggested in Joel Littauer’s Sept. 19 letter, “Voters verbalized choice at primary.”

Kind of has a Don Benton-ish smell to it, doesn’t it?
