Letter: Protect charter with your vote

By Craig Walker, Camas

Local Republicans won’t take no for an answer. They’re not getting their way dominating the county council, so now they want a write-in campaign for Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, as chair. But let’s not forget that Pike was one of just two members of the charter committee — both Republicans — who voted against bringing the new charter to the voters, in order to help protect Councilor David Madore’s iron-fist control of the county. If the write-in campaign fails, how many more tricks do they have up their sleeve to maintain control of the county council?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
