CHEHALIS — A man is dead after being struck by a car on Interstate 5 just south of Chehalis.
Matthew Hearn of Castle Rock stopped on the side of the road Friday night to retrieve an item that fell off his truck, the Washington State Patrol said. Hearn, 46, walked into the left lane to get the item, and was struck by a car, WSP said.
KOMO-TV News reported that Hearn died of his injuries at Centralia Providence hospital.
WSP said the 60-year-old woman driving the car will not be charged.
