Construction is underway on Vancouver’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant, at the intersection of Southeast 164th Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard.

The 4,500-square-foot fast-food restaurant, which will be the company’s third in the Portland-Vancouver metro area, is expected to open in the fall.

“This restaurant, like our other locations, will be owned and operated by a local resident, living and working in the community,” said Carrie Kurlander, the company’s vice president for public relations.

The chain’s only Oregon restaurant is in Hillsboro, but it will open its second Oregon location April 21 in Clackamas. It plans to open between five and seven new restaurants in the Portland area in the next five years.

Chick-fil-A’s three Washington restaurants are in Bellevue, Lynnwood and Tacoma.

The Atlanta-based company bills itself as the nation’s largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain, with more than 1,950 locations in 42 states and Washington, D.C. In 2015 it had annual sales of more than $6 billion.
