Ellsworth Springs — Marty Fields, nutrition education for Washington State University’s Food Sense (SNAP-Ed) program partnered with Maria Dorshkind, outreach coordinator at the Ellsworth Elementary Fresh Food Pantry, on March 22 to provide a salmon chowder tasting. The soup was fresh and made on site, and all the shoppers offered positive feedback on the chowder made with salmon and potatoes that came directly from the pantry. Washington State University Food Sense teaches youth, families, and adults with limited incomes to develop lifelong skills and behaviors for healthful eating and physically active lifestyles.
