Battle Ground — Jeff Swanson, Battle Ground’s new city manager, took his oath of office at City Hall on April 1, and again ceremonially in front of City Council, staff, family and friends at a city council meeting April 4. Swanson was appointed by the city council to serve as city manager after a four-month recruitment process. He comes to Battle Ground from Clark County, where he served as director of economic development. He is pursuing a doctorate in systems science from Portland State University after earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics, along with several complimentary certificates. “I am humbled and excited to join the excellent team of employees and elected council members at the city of Battle Ground,” Swanson said. “I look forward to engaging with the community on important long term issues like growth, development and delivery of municipal services. It is a great opportunity to join the city at this time.”
