YWCA film festival to feature eight movies

YWCA Clark County’s film festival happening Thursday will feature eight short films from filmmakers tasked with imagining a world where YWCA achieved its mission. The nonprofit serves those who have experienced domestic violence, homelessness, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, and oppression, as well as youth in foster care and incarcerated women. Doors open at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St., and the films start at 6:30 p.m. There will be another showing at the same time Saturday.

The featured films are:

• “Drag Queen for Kids” by Byron Karabatsos.

• “Cuerdas” by Pedro Solis.

• “Every Row a Path” by Jill Freidberg.

• “Mother’s Cry” by Lisa Russell.

• “Can You Hear Me?” by Shazia Javed.

• “Dead Sites” by Jason Outenreath.

• “Holistic Life Foundation: Breathing Love into a Community” by Chris Farina.

• “The Ripple Effect” by Sarah Khan.
