A raging fire in a garage east of Ridgefield sent flames and a large plume of smoke into the sky early Friday evening.

Firefighters were called to the home, near Northeast 10th Avenue and 279th Street, shortly before 8:30 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found a fully involved garage fire, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Radio traffic also indicated the fire did not spread significantly into the residence.
