1. Bears, donkeys and piñatas, oh my

The Panda Burro Invitational Run is not your usual 5K and 10K race. The name is inspired by the animal nicknames of two running partners. The race aid stations will include mini cupcakes, while the finish line will feature breakfast burritos. There will also be a free kids run, gunny sack races, piñatas and a raffle. And because a portion the registration proceeds will benefit the Pongo Fund, which helps feed hungry pets in the local area, dogs on leashes are welcome. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m. Aug. 27. The Panda Burro courses are out-and-back style routes on paved trails at the Salmon Creek Regional Park, 1112 N.E. 117th St., Vancouver. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in their categories. Registration is $40 to $45, and free for kids run. 503-516-5935 or www.doubledogdareuevents.com/panda-burro-invitational.html

2. Treasured finds

Camas Vintage and Art Faire returns for its seventh event featuring more than 60 vintage, antique and upcycle vendors from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 27 along Northeast Fourth Avenue and Birch Street in Camas. Local artists also will be on hand to showcase an eclectic mix of work, from jewelry to garden sculptures. Live music will fill the streets, and visitors can check out bites from local food vendors. downtowncamas.com/events-and-festivals/the-camas-vintage-art-faire

3. Beer cause

Organic Beer Fest will highlight brewers that use organic ingredients and sustainable practices. Beer, mead and cider from more than 40 breweries will be served alongside local music, and vendors will sell food and sustainability-oriented items. Minors are welcome with parents. A kids area will provide art activities, face painting and a handcrafted soda garden. The festival is open noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 26-27 and noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 28 in Portland Overlook Park, 1599 N. Fremont St., Portland. Admission is free. For those 21 and older, it is $7 for a tasting cup and $1 for tasting tokens. organicbeerfest.org

4. 100 years of park service

Celebrate 100 years of the National Park Service with a day of demonstrations, history and exploration at the reconstructed Fort Vancouver. The DH-4 Liberty Plane will be installed at the Pearson Air Museum, and a time capsule will be cemented at the Visitors Center. Re-enactors of the 1st Oregon Cavalry will provide black powder weapon demonstrations on the parade ground. Centennial Day activities run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 27 across the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, 1001 E. Fifth St., Vancouver. Admission is free. 360-816-6230 or www.nps.gov/fova

5. Summertime songs

Sunlight Supply Amphitheater gears up for another set of big concerts.

It begins with a triple header of rock and roll, as Heart, Cheap Trick and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will perform starting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27. The concert tour bares the name Rock Hall Three For All because all three bands have been recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Tickets are $20.25 to $56.

Next, Australian rock band 5 Seconds of Summer will perform at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31. The band released its second album “Sounds Good Feels Good” in 2015. The foursome’s sound is often described as pop punk or power pop. Tickets are $25 to $79.95.

Rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa team up for The High Road Tour at 7 p.m. Sept. 1. The concert will pair hits from Snoop Dogg’s rap career with Wiz Khalifa’s hit anthems. The tour also will include guest artists Kevin Gates, Jhene Aiko, Casey Veggies and DJ Drama. Tickets are $26 to $70.75.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, 800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com. Attendees also can get to the amphitheater, 17200 N.E.
