Boys basketball: Battle Ground 74, Washougal 47

Daelon Floyd scored 19 points and led a strong defensive effort as the Tigers opened their season with a win.

Renato Mendoza added 12 points and Shane Hatch scored 10 for Battle Ground, which led 24-6 after the first quarter.

“They shot the ball really well,” Washougal coach Malcolm Estes said. “They played outstanding defense. They were physical and tough.”

Jake Klackner scored 12 points to lead Washougal (0-3).
