The truck driver involved in a fatal crash on Swan Island Wednesday morning has been identified as a Vancouver man.

Michael Dungey, 49, was driving a tractor trailer south on North Basin Avenue at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday when he collided with a vehicle that was traveling north in the southbound lanes, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The driver of that vehicle, 47-year-old Kyle Andrew Kline of Portland, died at the scene, police said.

Dungey showed no signs of impairment and was cooperative with investigators, police said.

The initial investigation showed that speed and wet conditions appeared to be factors in the crash, though the agency’s crash team is still investigating.

Once completed, the information will be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office for review.
