Boys basketball: Battle Ground 53, Hockinson 48

Renato Mendoza scored all 13 of his points in the second half to spark the Battle Ground boys basketball team to a come-from-behind victory over Hockinson on Wednesday.

Hockinson led 23-13 at halftime, but the Tigers surged with 35-34 after three quarters.

“We got some turnovers in the second half that we turned into some transition baskets to get us going,” Battle Ground coach Wes Armstrong said. “Casey Spencer had a phenomenal game for us on both ends of the floor.”

Daelon Floyed led Battle Ground with 18 points and six rebounds. Ryder Poverud had 12 to lead Hockinson.
