A season of firsts for a young Ridgefield team came to an end Wednesday in Tumwater.

Ridgefield (8-14) was held to seven points in the first half of a 2A District 4 pigtail game.

But coach Tom Klutz said this season offered plenty of learning experiences for a team that started five freshmen.

“Our first playoffs, first time in a big game, first time playing at a neutral site,” he said. “We’re better tested by playing this game.”

Tumwater (7-13) advances to the double-elimination portion of the tournament.

“Give credit to Tumwater,” Klutz said. “They played man to man defense the whole time and were solid. Our kids couldn’t penetrate and we missed shots.”
