Girls basketball: Hockinson 63, W.F. West 44

A close first three quarters turned into a blowout as Hockinson’s defense held W.F. West to eight points in the final quarter of the first round 2A district tournament.

Hockinson had 15 turnovers in the first half and just four in the second half. The Hawks had 31 steals in the game.

Hannah Neibauer had a double-double with 20 points and 12 steals plus eight assists and four rebounds for the Hawks (12-9). Elle Tilkin had 14 points and Brittany McGuire had 10.

Hockinson next faces Mark Morris in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Monday at R.A. Long High School. The winner also gets a berth to regionals.
