A 16-year-old boy from Yacolt died late Sunday night in a vehicle collision on state Highway 503 about 3 miles north of Battle Ground, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Police said Spencer Johnston was driving a tan 1992 Honda Accord north on the highway at about 11:15 p.m. when, near Northeast 299th Street, the car crossed the center line and struck a southbound vehicle. He died in the crash, according to a State Patrol memo.

Three motorists in the other car, a black 2001 Nissan Maxima, were all transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with injuries. State Patrol identified them as: 18-year-old Lewis Levanen of Yacolt, the car’s driver; 19-year-old Hunter Halstrom of Kalispell, Mont.; and 20-year-old Jacob Halberg of Vancouver.

Halstrom was listed in serious condition at the hospital on this afternoon, according to hospital staff. Levanen and Halberg were in fair condition.

State Patrol said that Johnston’s vehicle crossing the center line caused the crash.
