Two people were injured Saturday in a crash between a car and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 5 about three miles south of Woodland.

The collision occurred around 2:45 p.m. when a 2001 Nissan Sentra that had been parked on the right shoulder of the freeway’s south lanes tried to re-enter traffic in front of the tractor-trailer, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol. The tractor-trailer struck the rear of the car, the memo said.

The car’s driver, Victoria A. Thompson, 28, of Vancouver, was injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, State Patrol said. The tractor-trailer’s driver, Patrick Hayson, 45, of Portland, was taken to the same hospital with injuries, according to the State Patrol. Their conditions were not available Sunday.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the memo.
