Washougal’s Abby Lees third at Fargo nationals

Wrestler wins five straight consolation matches

It was quite a rebound for Abby Lees.

After a second-round loss, she won five straight matches to place third Tuesday at the USA Wrestling Junior Freestyle Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

Lees, who will be a senior at Washougal High School, won three of her seven matches by pin or technical fall in the 159-pound weight class.

Battle Ground’s Sierra Joner placed eighth at 121 pounds, earning All-American status.

Several Clark County wrestlers are in Fargo this week. The boys junior freestyle nationals runs Thursday through Saturday.
