There are a few recurring themes for those looking to buy a home in Clark County: higher prices, less time on the market, more activity and lower inventory.
At $293,000, the median sale price for Clark County homes hit another record in May, according to a report released Wednesday by Portland-based RMLS listing service. That’s up from the $272,000 median price in May 2015.
The average sale price likewise found a new high at $329,000 in May.
“Southwest Washington saw gains in real estate activity nearly across the board this May,” reads the Market Action report.
The only negative indicator last month was the number of new listings, which dropped 1.2 percent year-over-year. But, reads the report: “It was the strongest May for closings in the region since 2006,” with 762 sales closing.
A total of 3,210 homes have been sold in Clark County so far this year, a 9.3 percent increase over last year’s pace.
May typically marks the beginning of summer’s busy buying season, and this year appears to be even hotter. Market time dropped drastically since May 2015, when homes were on the market for 78 days. Last month’s market time was 49 days.
