PORT TOWNSEND (AP) — Port Townsend police say they arrested a suspended high school teacher on burglary and felony harassment charges.

The teacher, James Miller, was arrested in his former classroom on Friday. Miller had been banned from school property in February after suffering what police called a “mental health condition.”

Miller took part in an off-campus meeting with school administration on Friday morning, and police say he became disruptive and threatened to kill high school Principal Carrie Ehrhardt.

Hours later, Miller went to the school and entered his former classroom where students were present. Police say he removed items from the wall and described personal details of his life to the students. Police say people in nearby classrooms heard Miller shouting using foul language.

A Port Townsend police department school resource officer took Miller into custody and he was booked in the jail. He’s scheduled to appear in Jefferson County Superior Court on Monday.

Police Detective Luke Bogues said he didn’t know if Miller had a lawyer.
