Fire damages downtown Vancouver apartment building

Fire damaged an apartment building late Friday night in Vancouver, displacing two people.

The fire was reported at 10:40 p.m. at The Hudson Apartments, 500 E. 13th St., according to emergency dispatch records.

A fire had started in one apartment and set the unit ablaze, according to emergency radio traffic. Residents of the complex evacuated.

Crews brought the fire under control after about 20 minutes. The Red Cross provided assistance for temporary lodging to two adults displaced by the fire, as well as assistance to address immediate basic needs, disaster health services, disaster mental health services and information about recovery services.
