As promised, after breaking down the final week of league play last week in baseball and soccer, we’ll do the same this week for softball and the 4A, 3A and 2A Greater St. Helens leagues and the 1A Trico League to cap their league seasons.

4A GSHL: Battle Ground (10-0) hopes to clinch the league title Monday with a win over Evergreen, so that the Tigers’ game Wednesday at Camas will have no bearing on the league title. Camas (8-2) and Skyview (7-3) could be headed to a tiebreaker game to decide the No. 2 seed. It also appears that Union will face Evergreen to open the district tournament May 17-18 at Battle Ground. Heritage can clinch the sixth and final district spot with a win over Camas or Union, or with a loss by Mountain View to Skyview.

3A GSHL: Columbia River (6-3) has clinched at least a share of the league title, and the Chieftains can clinch it outright with a win over Fort Vancouver on Tuesday. Prairie (4-3) and Kelso (4-3) have clinched the other two berths to the bi-district tournament. The two teams will play Tuesday, which will decide seeding.

2A GSHL: Teams still have two or three games left this week, but this is how things look. Barring some surprises, R.A. Long (8-1) looks to lock up the No. 1 seed to district. Woodland (7-3), Ridgefield (6-3) and Hockinson (6-4) are battling it out for the Nos. 2 through 4 seeds. Washougal (4-6) appears headed to the No. 5 seed, which means a play-in game to reach district.

1A TRICO: So this is weird. The district website already has 1A Trico teams placed into the district tournament bracket, even though every team except Columbia-White Salmon still has at least three games to play this week. La Center (8-0) figures to seal the No. 1 seed with a win over Columbia-White Salmon. Castle Rock (6-3) plays three games against Kalama (4-5), while Stevenson (5-4) has three against La Center.

Other sports

GOLF: The 4A and 3A district tournament will run concurrently at Lewis River Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.

TENNIS: The 3A district tournament is Friday and Saturday at Club Green Meadows, while the 2A sub-district meet is Friday and Saturday at Mint Valley in Longview.

BASEBALL/SOCCER: The brackets will be changing frequently this week. The best place to get updates on all is at our blog at blogs.columbian.com/high-school-sports.
